Helen Flanagan broke down in tears as she recalled her romance with David |
Helen Flanagan, best known for her role in Coronation Street, recently shared a deeply emotional account of her past romantic involvement with boxer David Haye during her appearance on Celebs Go Dating. The 34-year-old actress fought back tears as she recounted falling for David, despite his ongoing relationship with his girlfriend, Sian Osborne.
Helen, who first met the boxer on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2012, revealed that their romance felt intense and passionate, describing it as being "like fire." However, she expressed deep guilt over the situation, acknowledging that David was in an open relationship with Sian at the time.
"It was really something," Helen said during her emotional confession on Celebs Go Dating. "I didn’t mean to fall in love with him, but I did. We had this amazing connection together. We were like fire." She added that while she believed David loved both her and Sian, the situation brought her into a "dark" period in her life.

When asked about rumors suggesting she was in a "throuple" with David and Sian, Helen was quick to dispel them. "No," she responded. "Each to their own, but I was in love with a man. I wouldn’t have enjoyed watching him with another woman. That’s not for me."
Despite the intense connection she shared with David, Helen admitted that she never spoke to Sian directly, which left her feeling conflicted and overwhelmed with guilt. In a moment of vulnerability, she broke down on the show, saying, "I felt really guilty and bad about it. I was just really lonely, and I found it hard."
The Fallout from Her Situationship
Helen’s emotional recount comes amidst other revelations from her time on Celebs Go Dating. Channel 4, which airs the show, confirmed that Helen had been in a relationship with former footballer Robbie Talbot, 44, while filming. In accordance with the show’s rules, all participants are required to be single during the process. Once producers discovered her involvement with Robbie, Helen was asked to be transparent with the show's relationship experts and fellow cast members.
After discussing the matter with the producers, it was decided that Helen and Robbie would meet with the show's agents to assess their compatibility rather than Helen continuing to date members of the public. The show’s producers announced that these developments will feature in an upcoming episode.

A Complicated Love Life
Helen’s love life has been in the public eye for some time. Prior to her involvement with David Haye and her new relationship with Robbie Talbot, Helen was in a long-term relationship with Bristol Rovers player Scott Sinclair. The couple, who were together for 13 years, split in 2022 and share three children—Matilda, 7, Delilah, 5, and Charlie, 2.
Helen’s confession about David Haye also brought attention to the boxer’s reported “throuple” relationship with Sian Osborne and singer Una Healy, of The Saturdays. Una, who briefly joined David and Sian in their unconventional arrangement, later shared that she felt "hoodwinked" into the situation. However, David’s friend Mica Jova defended the couple, saying they were "gorgeous souls" and didn't deserve the backlash they were receiving.
Despite the complications surrounding her past relationships, Helen’s appearance on Celebs Go Dating highlights her quest for genuine connection and love, even as she navigates the complexities of her personal life.
Other stars appearing alongside Helen on Celebs Go Dating include Gogglebox alum Stephen Webb, Married at First Sight's Ella Morgan, Love Island's Chris Taylor, Made in Chelsea's Tristan Phipps, and Hollyoaks actress Jamelia.
